Email To Fax FAQ






How do I send a fax using my email account?

The email address to send to is provided by AirComUSA when you register for a
permanent account.

The subject line is for your reference and can be anything you would like.
(It will not appear on the actual fax.)

Please attach the documents you wish to send as a fax.
The most common attachments we accept are:


.doc - Microsoft Word Document
.tif and .tiff - Tagged Image File
.txt and .text - Plain Text
.prn and .ps - PostScript
.pdf - Adobe PDF

Please put the ten digit fax number(s), one per line, in the body of the email.
If you would like to be able to send from more email addresses please contact us.

I signed up for a free trial, why can't I send faxes?

Sending a fax using a free trial account is not currently an available option.
If you wish to contact us, AirComUSA will explain the email to fax process to you,
and let you send a test fax.

How do I turn my document into a .prn file?

Click here for detailed instructions with pictures.

Go to the Control panel
Click on Printers and faxes, if you have XP please make sure you are in classic view.
Add a printer, it is on the top left hand side.
Follow the add a printer wizard.
Next > - local printer, do not automatically detect.
Next > - Use whatever port it defaults to. It will probably be LPT1.
Next > - Manufacturer HP, Printers HP LaserJet 4P/4MP PS.
Next > - Do not make this your default printer.
Next > - Do not share this printer.
Next > - Do not print a test page.
Finish the Wizard.


Then in the program where you created the document please go to file > print and chose the HP LaserJet 4P/4MP PS printer.
Also, click the print to file check box.
Click The Print Button.
Chose where you would like to save the document.
Attach this document to an email and send it as a fax.
This will make your word document look exactly the same as a fax.

Why can't I open / read the .prn file?

The .prn file is actually a printer file.
The .prn file contains the printing information,
and cannot be viewed correctly without special software.
AirComUSA's system can read this printer information.
When you attach the .prn to your email to be sent as a fax
it will look the same as your original document.

How do I format the fax numbers in the email?

The fax number(s) should be the only entries in the body of the email.
Please make sure that there is no text in front of the number in the body of the email.
You do not need to put a 1 before the number.
If the fax is being sent to more than one fax number,
please place each ten digit number on its own line.
Our system will ignore spaces, dashes, and parentheses.
The following fax number formats are accepted by AirComUSA.

What email address do I send to?

The email address to send to is provided by AirComUSA when you register for a permanent account. If you are registered, and have not received an email address from which you may send faxes, please contact AirComUSA.

I am sending to the right correct email address; why does it say "User Unknown"?

AirComUSA compares the email address where the user is sending from to the list of recognized email addresses on your AirComUSA account. If we do not have that particular email address on file, your request to send the fax will not be accepted.
To update the email addresses that you may send from please contact AirComUSA.

Why am I getting an email response of "No fax numbers found"?

AirComUSA was unable to find any valid fax numbers in the body of the email you sent. In order to assist us in sending your faxes, please make sure that the format of your email meets the following requirements:

The fax number(s) should be the only entries in the body of the email.
Please make sure that there is no text preceding the fax number in the body of the email.
You do not need to put a 1 before the number.
If the fax is being sent to multiple recipients, please place each ten digit number on its own line in list form.
Our system will ignore spaces, dashes, and parentheses.
The following fax number formats are accepted by AirComUSA.

801-370-6001

Be sure to include the full number,
including area code or country code.
Place fax numbers, one per line, in the body of the email.

Why am I getting an email response of "No valid attachment"?

AirComUSA was unable to detect a valid attachment to be sent as a fax. So that AirComUSA can find the attachments you are attempting to fax, please make sure that the format of your email meets the following requirements:

Why am I getting an email response of "Invalid .prn file"?

* NOTE - The .prn file must be created by the correct printer driver.
Other PS, post script, drivers will work, but HP LaserJet 4P/4MP PS is known to work the best.

To Load The HP LaserJet 4P/4MP PS printer.
Go to the Control panel
Click on "Printers and faxes". If you have Windows XP, please make sure you are in classic view.
Click "Add a printer", it is on the top left hand side.

Why am I unable to log in to my account online?

The log in found online requiring a user name and password is generally for voice users.
Voice accounts may check their voicemail online by logging in.
Most of the options available must be changed over our automated phone system.
Fax accounts may be accessed over the phone by calling into our automated phone system.
The system will allow you to check your current balance, resend, save, or archive
your faxes, or add more system time over the phone. This may be accessed by using your
5-digit account number and PIN code.
