Changing your outgoing emails to plain text.

Outlook

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
2. Click the Mail Format tab.
3. In the Compose in this message format list, click the format that you want.


Outlook Express

1. On the Tools menu click Options.
2. Click the Send tab.
3. Under Mail Sending Format click Plain Text.
3. Click OK.
4. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.


Hotmail

1. While composing a new email.
2. Select Tools from the tool bar.
3. Choose Rich-Text Editor OFF.
 (If you see Rich-Text Editor ON, the rich text editor is already turned off.)
4. Click OK.


Thunderbird
To send one e-mail in plain text:

1. In the Compose window, where you are writing the e-mail.
2. Click Options.
3. Go to Format.
4. Select Plain Text Only.

To send all e-mails in plain text:

1. Click Tools.
2. Select Account Settings.
2. Under the account you want to change click Composition & Addressing.
3. Uncheck Compose messages in HTML format.
4. Repeat the above 2 steps for each account you want to change, then click "OK".


Yahoo
Send emails using plain formatting with Yahoo Mail.

1. Start a new email message.
2. At the end of the subject click Plain Text.
3. Click OK.
 (You can switch back by clicking on the Rich Text link in the same spot.)

Send emails using plain formatting with Yahoo Mail Classic.

1. From the Mail toolbar, select Mail Options.
2. Select Mail under the Options on the left.
3. Under Personalization, Click General Preferences.
4. Under Composing E-mails, make sure Compose messages as color and graphics is not selected.
5. Click Save.


Gmail

1. From the left navigation bar select Compose Mail.
2. If you can see a formatting bar, click Plain text.
 (If can not see the formatting bar you are already in plain text.)


Mail

1. In the Mac OS X Mail Menu select Mail.
2. Choose Preferences.
3. Go to the Composing category.
4. From the Format drop-down Menu make sure Plain Text is selected.
5. Close the dialog.


Entourage

1. From the Edit Menu Select Preferences.
2. Select Mail and News.
2. Click on the Compose tab.
3. Under Messages set "Mail Format" and "News Format" to plain text.
4. Click the Reply & Forward tab.
5. Uncheck Reply to messages using the format in which they sent.
6. Click on OK.
